- fella's got to eat a fella, he is a cannibal. seems like he mostly eats people who have already died so might be a waste reduction thing (he does turn ass-meat into jerky which suggests he's preserving it rather than just eating everyone he meets)
- he has disfigurements from radiation exposure including a missing nose, without chemicals he'll also get sick and go feral

- i think max and thadd could grow on him in a genuine fondness way, feel like he'd really take a shine on max and that would be interesting

- i have no idea where they're going with his wife, barb since it's heavily implied they're divorced but he still calls her his wife?? complicated. sounds fun.

The Ghoul, formerly known as Cooper Howard:
- is a former marine
- is a former, famous actor (usually playing the same cowboy character)
- he was(?) married to a woman named Barb and had a daughter named Janey
- accidentally became integral to the motions in play that lead to bombs dropping and ruining everything
- now a bountyhunter in the wastelands of America, post war
- he is a ghoul, which means he's been mutated by radiation exposure (though we've not seen him transform on screen so the "how" here is unclear)
- he's The Ghoul but he's not The Only Ghoul, ghouls are prevalent in the series and face discrimination and hardship because of their condition
- he is reliant on chemicals to stop himself from deteriorating further or going feral, he is also heavily dependent on drugs and alcohol to cope with the pain and misery he feels
- he has been searching for his family for 200 years now
- he seemingly has not gone by his pre-war name for a long time and has lost a lot of his humanity
- when he's talking to others, he's acting. he is a professional thespian! the dramatic, cowboy cadence and a lot of his mannerisms are drawn from his acting career and the skills he picked up (lasso tricks, sharp-shooting)
- he's very capable, ruthless and cunning. he's clearly survived a lot of scrapes
- he is well-travelled and a wealth of knowledge but he mostly makes enemies wherever he goes

his personality is:
- Cynical, jaded and cruel
- Pragmatic, observant and clever
- A yapper, dramatic, funny
- Deeply loyal to very few people (two), driven and resilient
- Unfortunately he do be susceptible to sunshiney characters and he seems like he can keep mutually beneficial acquaintances on "good" terms (such as the NCR)
- He used to be a very nice, polite gentleman with strong morals and then war happened big time twice
- The nature of his setting is that you don't last long without stepping on people to survive and you have to get very okay with that
